Mid-Year Business Check-In: Are You on Track to Hit Your Goals?

It’s June. You blinked, and suddenly, the year was half over.

If you’re an entrepreneur, service provider, or small business owner, chances are you started 2025 full of drive and excitement. You had plans, momentum, and a fresh list of goals. Maybe even a color-coded planner or a vision board with all your big dreams.

But then… life happened.

Client work took over. A launch didn’t go as planned. Family stuff popped up. Or maybe things went better than expected, and you veered off in a new, exciting direction. Either way, now is the time to pause, reflect, and recalibrate.

The mid-year business review isn’t just about checking off boxes—it’s about ensuring your actions align with your intentions. It’s a moment to look in the mirror and ask, “Am I building the business—and the life—I actually want?”

Let’s walk through this together. Step by step. Human to human.

Step 1: Reflect Honestly—Celebrate and Confront

Before you plan ahead, take a look back.

Reflection is where insight lives. It’s not about self-judgment or perfectionism—it’s about understanding your story so far.

Ask yourself:

  • What goals did I set at the start of the year?
  • Which ones did I hit, and which fell through the cracks?
  • What am I proud of?
  • Where did I struggle, and what contributed to that?

Be honest about what didn’t work, but also take time to recognize your growth, even if it wasn’t part of the original plan. Reflection helps you see what patterns are playing out in your business and what needs your attention.

Real moment: I once had a freelance writer client who broke down during our mid-year check-in. “I failed,” she said. “I didn’t launch my course. I didn’t grow my list like I planned.”

But when we zoomed out, she’d landed three new retainers, tripled her income, and had to put off launching because she was booked solid. She thought she was failing because she hadn’t met her original goals. But her business had evolved—and that was a win.

Celebrate your wins. Mourn the things that didn’t pan out. But don’t carry old goals like baggage. Learn from them and let them go.

Step 2: Revisit and Refine Your Goals

Now that you’ve reviewed what’s happened let’s look at where you’re headed.

Goals are not tattoos. You’re allowed to adjust them. Life changes. You change. Your business grows. Holding onto outdated goals out of guilt or pride is a recipe for burnout.

Ask yourself:

  • Do these goals still excite me?
  • Are they still aligned with my vision, values, and lifestyle?
  • What’s changed in my business or personal life that might shift my direction?

Be intentional with your focus. You may have started 2025 focused on growing your email list, but now you’re drawn toward building a community. Or maybe you aimed to launch a group program, but now you realize your 1:1 services are in higher demand.

Permission granted: You don’t need to hold onto goals that no longer fit. Let go of what no longer serves you. Make space for what does. Think of your goals as a living, breathing strategy that evolves with you—not a static checklist.

Step 3: Know Your Numbers (Even If You’re Afraid to Look)

Data doesn’t lie—but it also doesn’t define your worth.

Checking in on your numbers is like taking your business’s pulse. You need to know what’s working and what’s draining you.

Look at:

  • Revenue: Are you on track with your income goals?
  • Profit: What’s your take-home after expenses?
  • Lead Generation: Are you consistently attracting new clients?
  • Time: Where is your energy going?

Understanding your numbers helps you make informed decisions. Maybe you’re spending too much on tools you don’t use or pricing your offers too low. Maybe your funnel is solid but needs more visibility.

Story: A wellness coach I worked with thought she needed a bigger audience. But when we examined her funnel, we saw her conversion rate was solid—she just needed more clarity in her offer. With a minor tweak to her messaging, her sales doubled without adding a single follower.

Sometimes, your numbers don’t mean “you’re not enough.” They just mean it’s time to pivot. Let your numbers guide your strategy, not your self-worth.

Step 4: Choose ONE Bold Focus for Q3

Too many goals = diluted results. That’s why Q3 should have one primary focus.

Ask:

  • What’s one project that would make everything else easier or more effective?
  • What energizes me most?
  • What will move the needle in my income, freedom, or fulfillment?

This is about making strategic decisions. It might be optimizing your backend systems, launching that long-awaited product, or streamlining your client onboarding.

Example: One of my clients decided to shift her energy in Q3 from chasing clients to creating systems. She built SOPs, onboarded help, and created a seamless client process. In 90 days, she not only reduced her stress but was able to double her rates confidently.

Don’t underestimate the power of focused action. Choosing one bold goal doesn’t mean the rest of your business stops—it means you prioritize what matters most.

Step 5: Audit Your Time, Team, and Tools

Once you know what you’re focusing on, you need to make space for it.

Start with a time audit. Track a full week. See where your hours actually go. You’ll likely find tasks that:

  • Can be automated
  • Should be delegated
  • Don’t need to happen at all

Time is your most valuable resource. You’re limiting your potential if you’re doing low-impact tasks during your peak creative hours. Reclaim your time by realigning your schedule with your priorities.

Real talk: If you’re spending two hours every day on admin work, you’re likely robbing your business (and yourself) of deeper, more strategic tasks.

Ask:

  • Is this task something only I can do?
  • Could a tool, template, or person do it better or faster?

Outsource. Streamline. Let go. Your future self will thank you. This is how you move from being busy to being effective.

Step 6: Schedule with Intention (Not Just Hope)

Planning without scheduling is just dreaming.

Once you know your Q3 focus and the tasks required to support it, block it out on your calendar.

Things to schedule:

  • CEO time weekly to reflect and adjust
  • Deep work time for your Q3 goal
  • Rest and creativity time (yes, this is essential too)

Tip: Time-blocking isn’t about rigidity—it’s about ownership. When you commit to your schedule, you’re committing to yourself.

Use your calendar as a boundary-setting tool. Protect your time from distractions, context-switching, and reactive work. Create space for what moves you forward.

Step 7: Reconnect With Your “Why”

If you’ve been feeling disconnected, this might be the missing link.

Why did you start this business? Who are you serving? What kind of life do you want to create?

Your “why” fuels your resilience. It helps you push through when things feel complicated or unclear. Reconnecting with it gives your actions more meaning and direction.

Exercise: Write a letter to yourself from the version of you one year from now. What did you accomplish? How do you feel about your business? What did you stop tolerating?

This isn’t just mindset fluff. Your “why” is fuel. And when things get hard (and they will), this is what will pull you forward.

Bonus Step: Get Support (It’s Not Weakness—It’s Strategy)

Every high-performing CEO has support.

Whether it’s a coach, mentor, community, or biz bestie, you need people in your corner. Someone to reflect back your blind spots, offer perspective, and remind you of your magic when you forget.

Support keeps you accountable, expands your thinking, and saves you from decision fatigue. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Don’t try to white-knuckle your way through business growth. You’re not meant to do this alone.

Final Thoughts: This Is Your Second Chance

The first half of the year is done. But that doesn’t mean the story is over.

The second half is yours to shape.

So take the time. Breathe. Reflect. Recommit.

This mid-year business review is your opportunity to pause, get honest, and take back the reins. You are not behind. You are right on time.

Six months from now, you’ll either look back with pride or regret. The choice is yours.

Let’s choose progress over perfection. And intention over hustle.

Ready to Reset?

If you’re reading this and feeling like it’s time to make a shift—big or small—you’re not alone. This is the moment to recalibrate your vision, take control of your strategy, and move into the second half of the year with renewed clarity and confidence.

If you want support to:

Clarify your next strategic steps – You might be sitting on ten ideas right now. Or maybe you’ve been spinning your wheels with scattered efforts and zero momentum. Together, we’ll cut through the noise, zoom in on what truly matters, and define the next right steps that align with your long-term vision.

Build a realistic action plan – Big goals are exciting, but execution is where success is born. In our session, we’ll map out a strategy that’s not just ambitious but doable—tailored to your time, energy, and resources. Step into the role of CEO with more confidence—It’s easy to feel like you’re just “keeping up” with your business instead of leading it.
